How to Stay Organized as a Blogger

There are so many moving pieces to keep track of as a blogger and business owner so it’s imperative to find a way to stay organized whether you’re a digital type of gal or a pen and paper girl. Today I’m going to be sharing some of my best tips on how to stay organized as a blogger whether you are just a part-time blogger or this is your full-time gig.

Learn how to stay organized as a blogger whether blogging is your full-time or part-time gig.

Utilize a to-do list

I don’t know about you but my to-do list keeps me sane. I use a to-do list to keep my schedule on track every single day and it really helps lay out what I have going on each and every day. Each morning I brain dump absolutely everything I need to get done in that given week and then if I don’t finish the task I’ll just slide it over to the next day. Some weeks my to-do list is pretty normal and others it is exploding with things to do.

Use a project management tool

I’ve written posts about my favorite project management tools in the past you can check out how I use Trello to streamline my business  and Why You Need to Use Asana For Your Business if you’re interested in learning a little more about these two tools and seeing which one would be the best fit for you. No matter which option you choose, I feel like it’s an essential especially if you’re managing a team like I am.

Take advantage of an editorial calendar

Let’s be real, if I didn’t use an editorial calendar I would have no idea what I was planning on writing about each month and that would get really stressful real quick so plan out your content in advance with an editorial calendar, it’s life changing, I swear.

Plug in all of your sponsored posts into a monthly calendar

Obviously, I don’t have sponsored content on Confetti Social but I do on my other blog Breakfast at Lilly’s so at the beginning of each month I put any sponsored content onto my calendar before deciding on any other posts that I will be writing that month. This ensures that I have ample enough time to get those posts ready and am not scrambling at the last minute because I forgot I had a sponsored post. It’s happened before and it was not a good time.

Keep all of your important blogging documents in one place

As a blogger, you need to keep any and all receipts and other important documents related to blogging whether it’s a physical receipt or you just have digital copies of invoices. I recommend having a folder on your computer that houses your receipts for blogging expenses in addition to a file folder to hold the regular receipts. This comes in handy for tax time so you’re not scrambling to compile all of your important documents 2 weeks before your taxes are due.

Keep track of your monthly blogging stats

I have a spreadsheet that I update each and every month with my page views, unique visitors, bounce rate, etc. in addition to my social media following numbers and my email list subscribers so I can track my growth over time and make sure that I’m growing in the way that I want. It also helps me see where I need to improve so I can start working on a new strategy.
