A few months ago, I wrote a post about how to start a blog in general so today I wanted to share how to start a blog with Siteground specifically. This post will show you step-by-step how to start a blog on WordPress by using Siteground as your host.
How to Start a Blog with Siteground
Decide what your niche is going to be
Before you even think about starting a blog, you need to figure out what you are going to be writing about. You could be writing about fashion, beauty, parenting, or whatever but this is important to decide before you even think about purchasing a domain or hosting.
When you’ve officially selected your niche, then you can start thinking of potential blog names. I recommend making a list of about 7-10 names that you like and narrowing it down from there. Unfortunately, a lot of the names you like may already be in use so make sure to check Google and see if someone else is already using one of the names you are considering.
Select your platform
If you’re looking to be serious from the get go, then I recommend jumping straight into WordPress.org. It is, in my opinion, the most comprehensive and customizable platform on the market. There are also options like SquareSpace, Blogger, Wix, and the like but I am team WordPress all the way.
Pick Your Hosting
Just like there are a variety of different platforms to choose from, there are quite a few hosting options out there as well. In the past, I used Bluehost but didn’t find it to fit all of my needs so I jumped ship for Siteground about halfway through my Bluehost subscription and never looked back.
Why Siteground?
Why did I choose Siteground you ask? Well let me tell you – there are many reasons why I ultimately decided to use Siteground over any other hosting service. There are two key reasons why I chose Siteground and those are due to their killer customer service and the fact that there has been little to no downtime during my time with them which has now been for over a year.
Customer service – Their customer service is absolutely impeccable. When I first decided to make the switch to Siteground, they helped me transfer my hosting and answered every little silly question I have. Not only were they super helpful, but the wait time to speak to a customer service rep is very limited so you aren’t sitting there and waiting to speak to someone for forever.
Little to no downtime – During my year with Siteground, my site has only been down like twice. I could not say the same about my previous host so that was a huge selling point for me before deciding to make the switch.
How to Sign Up with Siteground
To sign up for Siteground, you can either jump directly to web hosting then shared hosting and then click the get started button on your desired plan or you can chat with a customer service representative to see which plan is the best for you to start with.
If you decide to jump straight into hosting with Siteground, the above photo is the screen you’re going to see with options on which plan to choose. I’m personally on the GrowBig plan because I host 2 websites under that one plan but if you’re just starting out, the StartUp plan should be sufficient enough for you.
Siteground offers a huge discount for your first year so you’ll only be paying $3.95/month which comes out to about $48 for your first year so you really can’t beat it.
I hope you enjoyed learning more about how to start a blog with Siteground.
