Automation can be a huge timesaver for any busy solopreneur. I use automation in a lot of aspects in my business including social media, email marketing, and even with my accounting system.

First, you’re going to want to navigate to the “Automations” tab on your ConvertKit dashboard. Then you’ll see the Visual Automations tab which is in Beta right now and then there is also the Rules tab. Today we’re just going to discuss the rules section.

Tags

Being able to segment your list with tags is a beautiful thing. I use tags to track almost everything in my business. My favorite way to use tags is when surveying my audience. For example, in my welcome sequence I ask people to click all of the links that resonate with them such as, I’m a blogger, I’m a business owner, I’m interested in learning about social media, I’m interested in hiring a social media manager, or I’m interested in learning how to become a social media manager. This helps me segment my list from the beginning so I can send people different offers depending on the answers they selected.

Custom Unsubscribe Links

I don’t know about you but I don’t want my subscribers to get annoyed with receiving emails about promotions that they are not interested in. That’s where custom unsubscribe links come in. This allows for you to set up tags so that if a certain subscriber isn’t interested in a specific subject, they can opt out of those emails without completely unsubscribing from your list.

Send them a coupon code

If one of your subscribers clicks on a sales page of yours but doesn’t end up buying you can later send them to a lead page that contains a discount code for the next 15-20 minutes to help aid them along the way to make the purchase.

Add purchasers to a specific tag

If someone purchases something from you, you won’t want them to continue receiving emails about that product so set up a tag so that you can separate those who have purchased and those who haven’t.
