How to Increase Your Website Traffic Substantially

Are you ready to take your blog to the next level and increase your website traffic substantially? Well then this post is for you! Although Confetti Social is only a few months old, I am certainly not new to the blogging game. I’ve had my lifestyle blog for almost 2 years and I have been present in the online community ever since I can remember. It all started back on Xanga in middle school/early high school and then slowly transformed into microblogging on Tumblr and then I eventually decided to start truly blogging 2 years ago and here we are today. Now let’s jump in to how to increase your website traffic – shall we?

How to Increase Your Website Traffic

Get on Pinterest

My number one tip for increasing your website traffic is to get your butt on Pinterest and fast. Now I’m going to be frank with you – Pinterest traffic doesn’t just appear over night. The longer you postpone getting onto Pinterest, the longer it’s going to take to generate traffic from there. So catch up on some of my posts from the PinPerfect series and start taking advantage of Pinterest as soon as possible. You can also sign up for my free email course PinPerfect or check out this post for a quick overview.

Implement SEO

As you probably already know, implementing SEO on your website is extremely important as a blogger or business owner. Making sure that all of your posts are optimized for SEO will help you grow your blog by sending traffic straight to your website from search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing. Although search engine optimization is not one of my strong suits, I am constantly working to learn as much about it as I can so that I’m not left in the dust.

Write long form and compelling content

This one kind of goes hand in hand with implementing SEO but I thought it deserved it’s own little section. Google and other search engines favor long form content because they believe it to be more useful than a shorter post. So make sure that your posts are AT LEAST 300 words. If possible, I’d shoot for at least 500-1000 words. Most of the posts on Confetti Social are between this range because I only write once or twice a week so I have time to produce long form, quality content that will keep my readers interested and on my site longer.

Write in your own style and tone

Now this doesn’t directly correlate to bringing in tons of traffic to your website, but people are more likely to read something that doesn’t sound like it was written by a robot or written in essay form. When I write on both of my blogs, I try to make it sound as if I’m speaking with a friend. I want people to enjoy reading my content so making it as personable as possible is the end game goal.

Commenting on others posts in your niche

I am definitely not recommending to go and comment on the blog of every person you can find because that’s just not practical and quite frankly, it’s a bit spammy if you ask me. Find around 10 or 15 bloggers that you genuinely LOVE their content and would comment on it regardless and leave thoughtful comments. Saying “nice post! Thanks for sharing.” and then dropping your link is not going to do anyone any good so make sure that your comments are at least a few sentences long and are meaningful.

Guest Posts

Another way to drive blog traffic is through guest posting. Typically when you guest post for someone they allow you to leave a link or two to your blog and social media channels. This is a win-win situation because you get exposed to a potentially new audience and the person who you’re guest blogging for gets a day off from writing.

Your Turn

How have you tried to increase your website traffic? I’m always interested in hearing new ways on how people increase their website traffic month over month. Please feel free to let me know down in the comments.
