Using Google Keyword Planner

Navigate to the top where it says “tools” and select keyword planner from the drop-down menu. Once you’ve clicked on keyword planner, it will bring you to a new screen and you’re going to select “search for new keywords using a phrase, website, or category” under Find new keywords and get search volume data.

Type your keywords in the very first box and then click “get ideas” at the bottom. Then you’ll be taken to a new page and you need to have the keyword ideas tab selected…Now, you have a plethora of keywords to choose from.

Choosing a keyword with a decent amount of monthly searches is important because although it’s great to rank in Google regardless of the keyword, it won’t really matter if no one else is searching that keyword.

Why is it important to use a tool like Google Keyword Planner?

Using a keyword planning tool helps you figure out which keywords to target. Although it isn’t the be all, end all strategy it certainly helps give you a little more perspective on what people are typing in on Google when they go to search for certain topics and can give you a little bit of a leg up.
