Guest Posting Etiquette

Something I’m looking to explore more in 2018 is guest posting and taking on a few relevant guest posts on my website as well. Guest posting is a great way to continue to build your audience and reach new people so today I’m sharing some guest posting etiquette.

Today I'm sharing guest posting etiquette.

Guest Posting Etiquette

  1. Do your research

You should be doing research for every post that you write unless it’s a personal post but it is important to research even more with guest posts. You want to be providing their audience with the most relevant information to ensure that your post is up-to-date.

  2. Write your post as if you were writing for your own website (or better)

I don’t know about you but whenever I am writing a guest post, I write to my best ability. I usually write as if I’m writing for my own website and most of the time, I try to make that post even better than something that would be published on my site because I want to be proud of the content that I have produced.

  3. Refrain from self-promotion

Unless otherwise stated by the blog’s author, you should refrain from self-promotion in your guest post. If people are interested, they will find a way to reach out to you – trust me.

  4. Proofread your post multiple times

It’s one thing to forget to proofread posts on your own website but it should be a big part of the process when writing a guest post because you don’t want to make silly mistakes when publishing a post on someone else’s website.

  5. Share the post with your own audience after it’s been written

I think it’s important to share the post with your email list and social media followers after it has been published. You should be proud of your work so you should want to promote it to your following.
