How to Find Clients in Facebook Groups

Sometimes finding clients can be a lot tougher than you initially expected especially when your particular market seems to be so saturated online. When I first started seeking out clients, I didn’t even know where to begin. Learning how to use Facebook groups to your advantage is key. I’m here to share with you how exactly to find clients in Facebook groups and a list of groups where your clients may be hanging out.

How to Find Clients in Facebook Groups

Join niche specific Facebook groups

First, I recommend joining Facebook groups related to your niche. If you’re a business blogger like I am, you’re going to want to join business and blogging related groups because that’s where your ideal clients will be hanging out. Some of my favorites are Blog + Biz Bffs, Savvy Business Owners, and Think Creative Collective.

If your niche is food or healthy living or anything other than business/blogging, you may find other groups to be best suited for finding clients that fit into your niche.

Share your knowledge within these groups

No, I’m not saying to go into all these new groups and start throwing out pitches for your services left and right because that’s not going to do you any good. You need to warm these groups up to both you and your services before you start trying to recruit clients.

First, I recommend sharing an introductory post. This outlines who you are and what you do without automatically pitching your services to everyone and risking looking spammy. This also sets you up for success in the future because some people may have already seen your introductory post and become interested in what you may potentially have to offer.

After you’ve done your introductory post, then you can start sharing your knowledge within these groups. You don’t want to actively pitch your services because most groups do not allow any form of self promotion – but share your knowledge/successes with the group so you can become known as the go-to expert on that particular topic in the group.

Comment on posts that request your expertise

If you notice someone asking for help on a topic that you’re knowledgeable in, then jump in and help them out. Although this may not snag you a client from the get go, it shows people that you’re an expert in this topic and people will start to recognize this after a few times of you posting. Spreading your free knowledge not only helps the person posting but it also sets you up as an expert so it’s a total win-win situation.

Build genuine relationships

Building relationships may land you the client and potentially a referral in the long run – which is what you want. Being personable and helpful and building true relationships in Facebook groups is key to sealing the deal with a client. When those referrals start rolling in – you can take a step back from Facebook groups for a little while and not post as often but make sure to stay visible because you never know when you’ll happen upon the perfect client.
